I don't usually have much trouble focusing on a strategy, especially since you've still got a lot of options if you don't like any of your cards (with the trade expansion and all the standard projects). At the end of a generation the player with the starter marker gets to move any track or ocean once. It keeps the game fresh for longer and allows for a lot more interesting gameplay. Shhhh don't say that! Floaters are a resource just like microbes. Thicker mats with a linen finish would have been more appropriate here, especially given the MSRP of the game. Over the next few months I have two games on my radar, this one and A Feast for Odin. I think that the number of cards and the number of different approaches to achieving victory points are a positive for TM.

I got to play this last week, and I definitely liked it a lot as well. Most of the "engine building" is slowly gaining various types of income as opposed to developing synergies between card powers.
