The "Song of General Kim Il-sung" (Korean: 김일성장군의 노래) is a North Korean marching song composed by Kim Won-gyun in 1946.As a part of an ongoing cult of personality, the song praising Kim Il-sung, North Korea's "Eternal President", who died in 1994, is still widely played in the country. High-ranking North Korean official Kim Yong-nam said, "While we wanted to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the country with general secretary Kim Jong-Il, we celebrated on our own". After the death of Kim Il Sung in 1997, the “Song to General Kim Jong Il” was also meant to be sung at official ceremonies as well. The "Song of General Kim Jong-il" (Korean: 김정일장군의 노래) is a marching song from North Korea.It was composed by Sol Myong-sun and the words were written by Sin Un-ho. His funeral was on July 17, 1994 in Pyongyang and was attended by hundreds of thousands of people who were flown into the city from all over North Korea. Kim Jong Il replaced “Aegukga” with the “Song of General Kim Il Sung” at all national ceremonies. Kim Il-sung's death resulted in nationwide mourning and a ten-day mourning period was declared by Kim Jong-il.
