Afterward, he transferred to UCLA, where he majored in Business. Jeff Krosnoff's car spun, smashed and scattered today, killing the 31-year-old driver and a course worker with three laps left in the Toronto Molson-Indy auto race. Throughout his college career, Krosnoff was focused on pursuing his dream of professional racecar driving. He then attended the University of California, San Diego for one year beginning in September 1982. The last Indy-car driver to die of injuries sustained in a race was Swede Savage, who succumbed to injuries two weeks after being injured during the 1973 Indianapolis 500. Krosnoff was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but grew up in La Cañada, California, where he attended Flintridge Preparatory School, a private high school.
Krosnoff is the first driver to die as the result of a crash during a CART race since the organization began sanctioning events in 1979.
