Saadiyat 3. Dubai Creek 8. “The People’s Golf Course” as they call it is super popular amongst golfers. It's definitely worth an overnight stay, with a fantastic Westin hotel on site.

Saltwater lakes, ornamental trees and palms make the setting oasis-like with lush playing surfaces, bold, strategic bunkering coupled with large greens paint the Abu Dhabi picture. Englishman Fleetwood successfully defended his Abu Dhabi title in 2018 after carding just 30 strokes on the back nine of the final round in windy conditions. They was extreamally fast! As well as the deep rough all around, there are lakes that come into play on around half of the holes and substantial sand hazards everywhere.
Holes that I enjoyed a lot were the 3rd and the 11th - both shorter par-4's and both fairly dramatic dog-legs (3rd to the left and 11th to the right) - these holes got my attention because of choices from the tee; play to the dogleg and attack from there or for the longer hitters, take the corner route on for a potentially easier reward. A large tier running across the middle of the green makes club selection crucial to leave you an easy birdie putt.
Doha 7. The 5th is a great right to left dogleg with a drive over a lake to a none to wide fairway and then on to a green where a high draw would be the best way to attack the flag. The Wave 9.
A gentle opening hole, requiring an accurate drive, ideally down the right-half of the fairway to give the best access to the well guarded green. Located to the northeast of Abu Dhabi city centre, this 7,806 yards par 72 course offers panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf. Very consistent... Also ranked far too low in my opinion. Seven saltwater lakes, shrubs and palm trees really make it a spectacle. There is no other place to start but the Abu Dhabi Golf Club. The greens on the National are really interesting with lots of places to run up a score if you get on the wrong side of the flags. I had a few trips here while on honeymoon (yes, you read that right - my Wife allowed me to take clubs on honeymoon) in 2016 and made a rookie mistake - never let the hotel book your golf - they get the "Rack Rate" which is about £80 - £100 over the online rate, so before you travel, sign up to the online booking sites and book in advance. However, a short or right tee shot will leave you in a lot of trouble! A wide opening to the Greens gives straightforward access to the putting surface, but bunkers right and left will catch any off target tee shots.

We played a round in December (the tournament is in January) and the rough was vicious to the point of not being able to find the ball again, if you threw it 10 metres ahead of you. The level of detail was very noticeable. It’s hard not to fill your camera with photos of the incredible clubhouse designed in the shape of a falcon bird in flight spying on its prey. People often describe it as a Super course built on 162 hectares of land with 27-hole Championship facilities. A great finishing Hole that will leave you with a memory of the Abu Dhabi City Golf Club – one way or another.
